Generally, microneedling is quite a comfortable and low-risk procedure, and has a short recovery time. Patients typically experience redness immediately following the procedure. Healing time is approximately 3 days.
Of course, just like every other procedure, complications and side effects are possible, though very rare.
These can include:
- Skin infections
- Pigmentation problems
These side effects aren’t common, which is why microneedling is now being used more and more to treat a number of different skin concerns.
After undergoing a microneedling treatment, your skin will be quite vulnerable to damage. A sunscreen is essential, especially in the two weeks following your treatment. Try to avoid chemicals and any form of exfoliation during this time too, as all of this will only irritate your skin.
A rich moisturizer, applied twice a day, will aid the skin’s healing process by keeping it hydrated.
